Abstract:

One of the subjects offered in the K-12 curriculum is Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. This subject is taught using the Mother Tongue language. Only few textbooks were published to cater this subject. Some are written in English, only few are written in Filipino / Tagalog. Letran Calamba aims for Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao that is integrated with Christian Living Education. It is a subject wherein values and Christian doctrines and teachings are integrated. CLE and Values teachers felt the need of having a textbook or any learning book specially designed for this subject to respond to the needs of the learners, not only for the benefit of teachers. For this reason, the authors realized that there is a need for a learning module in Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao Gr. 1. In designing the lessons in this learning module, the authors used the competencies given by the Department of Education (DepEd) for Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. The competencies or values were integrated with the Bible story lesson. The lessons were divided into four units. Each unit and each lesson have objectives. Each lesson has a bible story to talk about, discussion and integration of values and church teachings, and activities for knowledge, understanding, and application. For each lesson, there are four parts for the processing of knowledge and skills, namely: Alamin, Isaisip, Isagawa at Isabuhay. These parts were derived from the DepEd’s concept of teaching Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao to students.
