Abstract:

This qualitative research determined the adversity quotient (AQ) of fishermen in relation to climate change adversities. Research methods used included conduct of test, key informant interview, focus group discussion (FGD), and secondary data gathering. Five fishermen participated in this study.

Result revealed that the fishermen had average AQ which was influenced by origin and ownership. They had very limited knowledge on climate change and disaster risk reduction; their skills mainly consisted of fishing and not those related to climate change adversities. They hardly have opportunity to attend trainings on climate change and disaster risk reduction. Only local officials were attending such trainings.
