Abstract:

The research attempted to find out the attrition and employees’ work satisfaction of company XYZ. Adopting the qualitative design, the data were gathered using the focus group discussion (FGD) and the filled out Exit Interview form. Employees quit their job for many reasons, such as working conditions, opportunity, achievement, growth, culture and recognition which are tough to address by an employer. Often talented individuals are forced to job-hop from one company to another  in order to improve their status and compensation.

Job satisfaction represents a combination of positive or negative feelings that the workers have towards their work. This includes the needs, desires, experiences, and expectations. It further represents the extent to which expectations are matched with the real rewards and is seen as an important organization performance indicator. Attrition, on the other hand, is most critical in business organizations when staff hops to direct competitors. Sometimes,  attrition  positively benefits organization, where more effective employees replace poor performers.

Retaining employees is one of the biggest challenges among managers because it requires a  positive and sustainable environment that fosters retention.
