Abstract:

This research aimed to lessen vehicular accidents and illegal activities during night time by identifying the factors to be considered in designing street lights and the cost of the proposed alternative best suited in the research locale.

Alternative solutions included 1.integrating timer and sensor circuit on current streetlights; 2.integrating solar panel and replacing the existing lamps with LED lamps; and 3.combination of LED lamps and small wind turbine in streetlight post. In choosing the best alternative, technical, economic, efficiency, SWOT, and cost analyses, design calculations, and environmental factors were considered.
