THERAPEUTIC ROLE OF PSYCHIATRIC NURSES IN CARING FOR SCHIZOPHRENIC CLIENTS

Abstract:

This study described the therapeutic role of psychiatric nurses in caring for schizophrenic patients in Cavite Center for Mental Health. Specifically, it determined: 1) the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of gender, age, number of years in service, and area/ward of psychiatric nursing; 2) the types of schizophrenic patients mostly cared by psychiatric nurses; 3) the therapeutic role of psychiatric nurses; and 4) the difference in the therapeutic roles of psychiatric nurses based on demographic profile and perceived knowledge and skills in carrying out  their therapeutic roles.
