SAN PABLO CITY’S SAMPALOC LAKE: TO AMELIORATE AS AN ECOTOURISM DESTINATION

Abstract:

This descriptive study identified the processes on how Sampaloc Lake can be ameliorated. Specifically, it aimed to 1) identify the profile of Sampaloc Lake in terms of its facilities and amenities, number of tourists’ arrival, activities, and natural aesthetic attraction; 2) determine the positive and negative effects encountered; and 3) propose recommendations for Sampaloc    Lake   as   an    ecotourism destination in terms of improvement of facilities and amenities, protection and conservation of the environment, and promotion of the lake. Interviews were conducted with the key informants, and observation was made at a local hotel. The researchers used observation checklist based on the DOT criteria for ecotourism site in making the profile of Sampaloc Lake. The gathered  data from the observations and  the interviews were transcribed and analyzed.
