Abstract:

The aim of this study is to explain why sacred signs are used in cinematography, specifcally in Filipino horror flms like “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay” and “Sukob” which both depict superstitious beliefs. The researchers used Qualitative method, with content analysis in this study. Results of the study reveal that sacred signs, as manifestations of Filipino religiosity, offer Christ’s grace-flled presence to Filipino Catholics. The sacred signs depicted in the two horror flms are the most effective tools in defeating supernatural occurrences.
