Abstract:

LT. JACK SANTIAGO sat unmindful of the commotion as the firebase bustled with activity. M35 six by six trucks rolled in and out. Men loaded and unloaded ammunition crates and other equipment. The whines of the trucks and the roar of the armored vehicles mingled with the shouts and curses of the sweating men. Somewhere in the perimeter rifles and machines were test fired, and a salvo of loud reports boomed through the air as the battery fired the 105s. The cacophony of sound accentuated the urgency of the day’s undertaking.
