Abstract:

This study attempts to find out if there is a correlation between the scores of the College Entrance Test of UE-Caloocan A.B. Communication Arts enrollees from 2004 to 2006 and their grade point averages in the said period. Using Pearson correlation, it analyzes the results of the CET and the GPAs of all students (77 of 284 students) who have complete GPAs from their enrolment to school year 2006-2007. It has found that there is no proof of significant correlation between the CET scores and the GPAs of the students enrolled in both 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 and there is inconsistent correlation between the two variables for students enrolled in 2005-2006. There is no proof of significant correlation between the two variables in eight of the 12 semesters covered by the study. The study concludes that, in general, there is no proof of significant correlation between CET scores and GPAs of students under study.
