Abstract:

Alarmed by the poor performance of many students in College Algebra and concerned with addressing this perennial problem for most colleges and universities, the author conducted this research.

Considering that the researches cited in this study generally assert that age, sex, attitudes, attendance and study habits of students are significantly associated with their academic performance, this study tried to ascertain, using the Chi-Square Test, if the same factors were associated with the performance in College Algebra (MA 101) of UE-Manila freshmen enrolled for the first semester of school year 2004-2005.
