Abstract:

 This paper describes the background and definitions of the scholarship of outreach and engagement. The premise of this conceptual paper is that these forms of scholarship may be underused and under-valued in hospitality and tourism and could possibly be applied in teaching, service, and research in hospitality and tourism to benefit students, community members, and educators.
