Abstract:

The paper attempts a critical comparative discussion of A.K. Sen’s ideas and proposals in connection with some relevant ideas taken from Friedrich von Hayek that are suitable for highlighting some critical issues in Amartya Sen’s conception of freedom. It is hoped that this discussion could illuminate philosophical ideas on freedom and show how an appreciation of freedom/s can have a direct relevance on political/social institutions, economic policy, and individual agency.
