Jose Emmanuel Manlapaz | BJ Rodriguez | Darious Neil Loprandado

Abstract:

The proposed system entitled “A Web-Based English Assessment for Grade 6 students using C5.0 Algorithm” comprises three accounts, namely, the English Coordinator account, teacher account and student account. The English Coordinator is the administrator of the system. He/she registers the teacher’s account where he/she manages the information of the teachers. The teachers can login by entering their ID no. and password given by the English coordinator. The coordinator also has access to the student’s performance and progress report from the date of use up to the present. The second account is for the teacher who monitors the students’ performance and assigns the students to their section. The teacher uploads video tutorials and other supporting materials like PDF files, powerpoint presentations into the system so that the students could have easy access to download the learning materials. The teacher also provides the access code that will be given to the students so that they can access the tutorial and other materials. The students’ account can be accessed only if the teachers will approve their accounts. The students will first take an assessment task that will be displayed in the system in order to determine their weak points. After the assessment, they can now access the video tutorials and activities posted by the teachers. The students’ access to the files does not have a limit so that from time to time they could go back and see their references for the subject. They could also view the individual assessment result generated by the system to make them aware of their progress in the subject matter.
