Abstract:

The LAN-Based Petition System for Colegio De San Juan De Letran - Calamba provides an easier way for students to petition a course. The Colegio’s current petition process involves a lot of people and takes too much time. Generally, students are only allowed to petition courses that they failed, withdrawn from, or left behind (back courses). It should not be used as an advanced course unless the student’s load is less than the minimum load required. Students who signed up for petition shall be assessed even if they did not enroll. As such, it is important that the Program Chair discusses the conditions written on the Request to Enroll in Petitioned Class (REPC). As much as possible, the petitioned class should be scheduled on time and day with least possible conflict with other regular courses and the availability of the faculty and the classroom shall also be considered to determine whether the petition shall be granted. The student petitioners must initiate the processing of petition requests before submitting the accomplished form to the Program Chair. Based on the study made, the researchers concluded that the system developed will help the Colegio’s student in petitioning a course. They recommended, however, that future researchers further improve the system into an online petition system so that it would be easier for the students to check their petitioned courses anywhere. Moreover, the data visualization of the system may be considered by the future researchers to gently enhance the current system’s capabilities.
