Raspberry Pi-based Soil pH and Nutrient Content Determination using Image Processing Applying Delta-E Algorithm

Abstract:

Agriculture is one of the most important parts of the economy. The Philippines relies on the resources from agricultural products. Soil is very important to agriculture. Soil is naturally a mixture of biological matter and mineral which can form structure and content. Soil varies in form, color, quality, and comes from different places. The soil content provides plant growth and supplies the organism with its nutritional requirements. The researchers designed an automatic determination of the condition of the soil samples and its content. Through this project, the farmers can efficiently manage their time doing other important things because they will not have to monitor the quality of the soil all the time. This project is a device that determines the level of the soil pH and nutrients using the Delta-E algorithm. It will give the farmers and gardeners enough information if the soil has enough of the needed contents. The project consists of a camera that will automatically capture the soil sample for the image processing with the use of Delta-E algorithm. The output will be linked to a single board computer and use a memory card for its operating system. It will process and generate results that will be displayed in the Liquid Crystal Display.
