Application of Anti-Pilferage System to the Transmission Towers of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines

Harbie Aclas | Jude Archin Adriano | John Christian Perez

Abstract:

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the sole transmission sector of the Philippines, is protected by the Republic Act 7832 also known as Anti-Pilferage Act of 1994 which forbids and penalizes the stealing, selling, and buying of any line parts of their transmission towers. Despite this law, there are some pilferages happening in the transmission towers of the mentioned grid. The researchers believed that the study will greatly minimize, if not eliminate, the pilferages of the transmission tower parts of NGCP through the use of an anti-pilferage system under the study of vibration analysis, magnetic switch, and continuity test. The proposed system can alert the user when the entities move out of the defined parameters and then the system can notify the in-charged security personnel of NGCP by sending a text message to inform them that a certain tower/s is/are under pilferage.
