Abstract:

This project feasibility study focused on the collection of solid waste by using vehicle routing problem. Through survey and interview, the proponents found that there were places in the municipality of Calamba, Laguna experiencing uncollected solid waste. By this the proponents decided to study and provide an optimal solution to help the potential target market of the municipalities in Laguna, specifically the municipalities of San Pedro, Biñan, Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao and Calamba to have an optimal garbage collection. The study, therefore, will contribute to the attempt to solve the country’s one of the top problems of high volume of solid waste. The researchers gathered the necessary data to prove the feasibility study, by considering the marketing, technical, organization or management, financial, socio economic and environmental aspects. The capital needed to start the business is 16,974,658.27 Php. From the findings, the proponents recommended the following: 1) apply the improved system to the municipalities, 2) provide a more specific and detailed collection schedule, 3) continue the study regarding waste segregation, 4) consider the best sustainable development goals, 5) add vehicles for the collection of solid waste.
