Abstract:

This study determines the effect of collaborative learning method as a strategy in teaching Natural Science The study finds that there is no significant difference in the mean

gain scores of academic achievement of students exposed to the collaborative learning method and of students exposed to the lecture method. Therefore, the collaborative learning method is as good and as effective as the lecture method. However, there is a significant difference in the mean gain scores of attitude of students exposed to the collaborative learning method and lecture.

Based on the results obtained, the study recommends that the results be used as reference for further study to determine the factors that affect the academic achievement of the students exposed to the collaborative learning method. Similar studies can be conducted using other groups of students, as well as studies in other discipline using collaborative learning method.
