Abstract:

This paper will provide an overview of the reaction in Spain to the execution of José Rizal, exploring their perceptions of the event by different intellectuals and politicians at the time. In this connection, the paper will provide some explanations as to the role of Spanish anarchism in the implementation of colonial policies by different administrations in Madrid. The aim is to present an alternative understanding of the revolutionary period and the perception in Spain of the Filipino aspirations.
