Abstract:

This study determined the level of actual learning success of the pre-service teachers (BSEd English majors) from three Teacher Education Institutions in the U-Belt, Manila. Forty six pre service students and three off-campus supervisors participated in the study. A validated tool and observation protocol were used to gather the data needed. Results show that the participants have a very low rating in all three areas tested (general education, professional education and English) however, the results of the observation protocol yielded a high level of actual learning success. It was recommended that the four agencies tasked with the preparation of future teachers (CHED, TEI’s, PRC and DepEd) should interface so that congruency in all their actions can be achieved.
