What's the Story? How Higher Education Students Interpret Assessment Feedback

Josephine F. Mirador

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

In this article, I discuss how students in higher education interpret summative assessment feedback from their tutors. I base my analysis on think-aloud impressions the students recorded in response to the feedback to their assignments. It would appear at this stage that such impressions point to how students perceive mentoring styles adopted by tutors writing the feedback. The results are significant in that we as teachers can have 'glimpses' of the kind of expectations that our students set as regards teacher response to their assignments.
