Abstract:

The study aimed to create a design equipped with the technical and economical considerations that would establish an efficient and reliable microwave communication link between San Mateo Imoc Hill, San Pablo, Laguna and San Pablo City, Laguna. The design was planned to be the replacement of the existing system setup which uses old AWA Long Reach Radio. The link was designed to have a reliability of 99.9999% as specified by the client-company.

The study intended to achieve the requirements considering all the parameters needed in a microwave communication system. Descriptive approach was used in unfolding the different factors that were measured to come up with a reliable and cost efficient design. A series of data gathering, mathematical calculations, and system simulation were performed to be certain in the reliability and cost effectiveness of the new system.

The reliability objective of 99.9999% was achieved after performing several trials of computations and to ascertain the cost effectiveness of the design, the economic study was taken into account. The design was proven to be feasible with a computed ROR of 96.9735% and a payback period of 506 days.
