The Formal transfer of the Administration of the Turtle Islands

Abstract:

The Philippines Historical Committee took a prominent part in the formal transfer of the Turtle Islands from Great Britain to the Philippines. Shortly after the late President Manuel Roxas had issued an executive order in 1947 declaring assumption of jurisdiction of the Turtle and Mangsee Island groups north of Borneo, the Philippines Historical Committee thought of contributing a significant undertaking at the formal turn-over by placing a historical marker on Taganak, the biggest and most important islet of the island groups. Culled and prepared in short and concise inscription, the wordings of the marker were as follows.
