Abstract:

People who have witnessed Rizal Day celebrations held either June 19 or December 30 of every year, since 1911 when the fiftieth birthday of the hero was proclaimed a legal holiday or since 1898 when the first Rizal Day was known to have been commemorated officially, will not fail to notice the grand preparation now going on for June 19 next year. In charge of the celebration of the first centenary of the birth of Rizal, which the government and the people of the Philippines have designed to be an event of extraordinary significance, Jose Rizal National Centennial Commission.
