Abstract:

The collections of letters which the Jesuits wrote from Mindanao or Cebu or Manila, and published under the title: Cartas de los Padres de la Compaña de Jesus de la Mision de Filipinas: Letters of the priests of the Society of Jesus belonging to the Philippine Mission are among the best sources for the history, the geography, and the ethnography of Mindanao during the last quarter of the 19th century. This paper describes the contents of these documents that are clearly valuable sources for the Filipino historians.
