Human Based Intruder Detection System Using Webcam and Matlab

Abstract:

For the past four years, the proponent had observed a series of intrusion cases from the newspaper and television. Almost all the victims don’t have a surveillance system. Consequently, the proponent decided to build a video surveillance system. The proponent had developed a human based intrusion detection system using Matlab and webcam. This system serves as a digital security guard of the user’s room. The system increases ones security by dissuading undesirable visitors. The system can save money because its components are relatively cheaper than the ones in the market today and the system can cut down the number of security personnel and therefore can save manpower and resources. The system can differentiate between human and non human through the Euclidean Distance. When the system detects a human, it triggers the alarm that will inform the user of the intrusion.
