Church and Human Society with Immersion

Josephine G. Maningas | Lorenzo B. Isla

Abstract:

CHURCH AND HUMAN SOCIETY (With Emmersion) is the fourth module designed primarily for college students. It takes on the methodology of Liberation Theology, better known in the Philippines as Christian Social Theology, to form the Letran students as pastoral oriented persons.

This module aims to guide and help develop in the students a more mature social awareness, responsible social involvement, and commitment to the promotion of justice. Specifically, it aims to present Christian Social Theology as a method and a guiding principle in the conduct of Makipamuhay.

The most important part of the module is the exposition of the three basic steps: SEE, JUDGE, and ACT. It presents fundamental elements that could guide students in the preparation, actual immersion, and assessment of experiences in Makipamuhay.

Likewise, this module is composed of the following: entry level test before each exposition; activity after each exposition; and post-test in each lesson. Facilitators are encouraged to use them. However, they can also use other related materials to enhance the presentation of the lessons. After all, anything that transpires in the classroom largely depends on the facilitators who are masters of their craft. As such, they facilitate the significant and meaningful learning of their students.
