The paper examines the future directions for counselor education in the Philippines by reviewing the relevant historical development of counseling, the emerging professional challenges, the changing client needs and work contexts, contemporary perspectives in understanding the nature of counseling as a discipline, and global trends in counseling. It identifies specific concerns and recommends directions for reform in counselor education in the Philippines.
