Abstract:

Based on the attitude-behavior consistency model, attitudes on research can be expected to relate to one's research activities in a university. Across-sectional study was done to determine the attitudinal patterns on research of the faculty ofthe College of Medicine at UERMMMC. Factor analysis of the responses from 101 faculty members from the basic and clinical departments showed five factors: importance of research, research support, distractions from doing research, and research resources and logistics. Whereas the respondents felt the importance of research, expressed the desire to do research and attended research seminars, the other four factors were negatively perceived.

These may have affected the amount of current research activities and output in the College of Medicine.
