Abstract:

Education and trainings are the core functions of Philippine Military Academy (PMA). To ensure such functions, PMA focuses its role in developing its educational standards and military trainings. Part of this training is ensuring that the cadets have a healthy mind and body in order to combat challenges and stress in accomplishing its mission as soldiers through their physical fitness programs.

Military fitness is a generalized form of fitness requiring unique program such as the concept of a “total body work-out” or a strength and skill work-out” (Batayola, 2004). This concept can only be achieved through discipline in trainings and nutritional intervention. Such intervention would mean balancing their energy input from energy expenditure to achieve its fitness goal and excellent performance.

Weight plays a role in maintaining one’s health to achieve a high standard of performance when it comes to military trainings. Over and underweight as most research learn would result to lower physical performance and provide health risks. Maintaining a healthy weight has a strong association with good health and longevity. To achieve such, cadets should be conscious of their nutritional intake based on the level of activity or exercise to attain an excellent performance.
