Making Sure They Write:The FEU Summer Research Training-Writeshop (SURETWrite) Project

Abstract:

This article describes the experimental project spearheaded by the FEU University Research Center in the Summer of 2010, to fast-track the production of quality research projects by faculty members. Given full funding and logistical support, the Summer Research Training Writeshop (SURETWrite) Project was a 7-week training program, at the end of which each participant was expected to come up with a research article ready for journal publication. The training program consisted of input from a guest resource person on a specific area of the research process, and a writeshop to produce output on the particular area discussed. Thirty-one faculty members participated in the SURETWrite, and by the end of the 7-week period, 21 completed research projects were produced, defended before a panel of peers, and ready for peer review.
