Abstract:

This study is a descriptive study aimed to design a training package for teachers of technical subjects.  Specifically, it tried to determine the proficiency level of teachers of the Technological Institute of the Philippines - Manila handling technical subjects, and to design a program that will help improve teachers’ proficiency level.

The study surveyed the proficiency level of the teachers in handling technical subjects. It used a questionnaire, and the data collected were analyzed using a percentage computation.  A language enhancement program was designed based on the results of the survey and suggestions of the teachers.

On the self-assessed proficiency level, the teachers of technical subjects have a low proficiency in speaking and writing skills.  On the other hand, they have a high proficiency in the skills of listening and reading.  Of the four language skills, the respondents suggested the holding of an enhancement program on speaking and writing.  In the mode of delivering the enhancement program, the respondents recommended making it a crash course.
