Sa artikulong ito, nirebyu ng awtor ang kasalukuyang kalagayan ng K to 12 Music curriculum ng Department of Education matapos ang panimulang implementasyon nito noong taong 2014-2015. Pinagtuunang-pansin sa papel na ito ang saklaw ng kurikulum pangmusika ng K to 12 para sa batayang edukasyon at pati na rin ang implikasyon nito sa lalong mataas na paaralan. Sa kamusmusan ng panibagong kurikulum ng edukasyong pangmusika, iilang saliksik pa lamang ang naisasagawa na may tuon tungo sa implementasyon at pagsasakatuparan nito. Sa kasalukuyan, may mga kinakaharap na mga hamon at disbentaha ang kabuuan ng K to 12. Sinikap na suriin sa pag-aaral na ito ang mga polisiya at praktika na nakasaad sa bagong kurikulum ng K to 12 sa asignaturang Musika. Matapos mapag-alaman ang mga bentaha at disbentaha ng binagong kurikulum, nagbigay ang awtor ng mga mungkahi sa lalong pagpapabuti ng polisiya at praktika tungo sa ikauunlad ng bagong kurikulum.
In this article, the author reviewed the current state of the K to 12 Music Curriculum of the Department of Education after its initial implementation last school year 2014-2015. The focus of the paper lies on the K to 12 Music Curriculum for the basic education, which includes its implications in the higher education unit. In the infancy stage of the new music curriculum, there have been few researches done which focuses on its implementation and administration of the said curriculum. At this point, there were several challenges and disadvantages cited in the new K to 12 curriculum. In this study, the author carefully analyzed the policies and practices of the new K to 12 Music subject. After the analysis of the challenges and disadvagates in the revised curriculum, the author articulated suggestions for the improvement of the policies and practices towards the development of the new curriculum.
