This study intended to modify the presently used operation of marking codes and counting boxes in banana packing houses. The system has both electronic and mechanical functions which can count and stamp banana-filled boxes before they are piled up for delivery. It houses a sensor that detects the presence of an incoming box, a keypad where a user can input the number of boxes to be counted and an LCD to monitor the number of boxes that passed the device.
The methods used were experimental development and descriptive. Five purposively selected evaluators took part in the assessment of the functionality of the design.
Findings showed that the device was able to perform perfectly well in box counting while there was a need to improve the system to become efficient in the box stamping.
