Religious Communal Conflict in Maluku: Building Local Initiatives and Dialogic Community for Peace

Abstract:

An attempt is made here to outline elements of ethnic-religious conflict in Ambon in order to determine its resolution. The conflict will be mapped to find the contexts, parties, issues, and its dynamics will then be proposed in consideration of various significant conflict elements. 3 This analysis was based on information from a research on Hak Asasi dan Resolusi Konflik di Ambon (Human Rights and Conflict Resolution in Ambon) July 1999,4 complemented with daily notes and interviews during efforts for peace in Maluku since October 1999 up to the present. 5
