Family and Peer Problems among First Year Marine Enginering Students at Maritime University

Abstract:

The purpose of the study was to look into out the common problems of first year marine engineering students at Maritime University (John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Iloilo City). The data of this study were gathered through the use of twenty item questionnaire, “Common Family and Peer Problems of First Year

Marine Engineering Students at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Molo” which was designed by the researchers. Frequency counts and percentage were employed as descriptive statistics. Respondents of this study were the 30 randomly selected first year marine engineering students. Results showed that, the common problems are conflict of interest, trust, communication, insecurity and loyalty. Peer relationships among the students at school were harmonious. The common problems encountered by the students in their family was lack of trust among parents, conflict of principles, independence, and the communication.
