Abstract:

This quantitative and qualitative research determined the manner and practice of AB Communication students of Letran, Calamba in filtering and selecting information from Google. Using Likert scale, 213 AB Communication students enrolled in Academic Year 2013-2014 rated how often they used the five criteria of Author’s Authority, Publisher’s Authority, Objectivity and Bias, Accuracy and Currency from the book Communication Research: Strategies and Sources (7th Ed.) by R. Rubin, et al, in doing their academic requirements. Also, focus group discussion (FGD) with four randomly selected AB Communication students determined the underlying reasons and factors affecting the students’ practice. Results from FGD were analyzed through thematic analysis.
