Abstract:

This research aimed to improve the notification system of ON Semiconductor Philippines Inc. to lessen time delays and maximize production time. Using observation to determine the present set up and problems, the researchers proposed alternative solutions which included automation of notification system through pilot bulb panel board using programmable logic controller, through SMS using GSM modem, and through LCD display using Microcontroller Unit (MCU). Based on technical and economical factors, including the SWOT analysis, the researchers found that each alternative had almost identical results. Thus, other factors such as speed of transmission, first cost, rate of return, range, availability of materials, and advantages and disadvantages were considered to arrive at the most appropriate alternative for the company. Automation of Notification System through SMS Using GSM Modem was chosen as the best alternative.
