Abstract:

Union Galvasteel Corporation’s production in roll-forming and distribution department utilizes gantry crane, roll forming machines and other heavy duty machines which run at 24 hours, causing them to consume large amount of electricity. To reduce power consumption, the researchers proposed the following the alternatives, namely, installation of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) in gantry crane, installation of soft starter in gantry crane, and installation of voltage optimizer in the roll-forming and distribution department.
