The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites due to its outstanding universal value but six years after, it was listed among the endangered world heritage sites. The local government exerted efforts to remove the Rice Terraces from the list and succeeded in 2012. This study discussed the contributory factors that led the Rice Terraces to the list of endangered world heritage sites; determined the level of sustainable tourism development in the area; and identified the plans and strategies of the local government to sustain tourism.
