This study was meant to evaluate the predictive validity of undergraduate clinical grades of graduates from the University of the East College of Dentistry in the Philippine dental licensure examination. Clinical grades and practical board scores (N=157) were analyzed. The mean clinical grades in Clinical Class II Amalgam (91.2), Clinical Fixed Partial Denture (84.54), Clinical Removable Partial Denture (80.59), and Clinical Complete Denture (93.34) were compared with the means of practical board subjects SP1 Class II Amalgam (77.7), SP2 Fixed Partial Denture (77.41), SP3 Removable Partial Denture (77.27), and SP4 Complete Denture (76.66). The results showed that there is significant difference between the clinical grades and practical board subjects grades when tested by paired t-test (Sig. = 0.000). The results also showed a negligible correlation for Clinical Class II Amalgam and SP1 Class II Amalgam (Pearson score is 0.182, Sig. = 0.022<0.05). There is no significant relationship between the scores for Clinical Fixed Partial Denture and SP2 Fixed Partial Denture (Pearson score is 0.93, Sig. = 0.244>0.05;) for Clinical Complete Denture and SP4 Complete Denture (Pearson score is .048, Sig. = 0.554>0.05;) for Clinical Removable Partial Denture and SP3 Removable Partial Denture (Pearson score is -.013, Sig. = 0.872). Stepwise regression analysis revealed that the Clinical Class II amalgam grade was the only probable predictor of passing the dental licensure examination with an 8.5% chance of passing the practical licensure examination and 8.9% chance of passing in the general dental licensure examination.
