Teaching Effectiveness: Its Influence to Students’ Attitude towards Entrepreneurship and Their Academic Achievement in Business Subjects

Abstract:

The study was conducted to determine the teaching effectiveness, its influence on students’ attitudes towards entrepreneurship and their academic achievement. The respondents of this study were teachers teaching entrepreneurship subject and fourth-year students taking such subjects in selected SUCs in Iloilo and Antique, Philippines. The instruments used in this study were an evaluation form for teaching effectiveness and grades of students in entrepreneurship. Frequency and mean were used to analyze descriptive data. T-test, One-way analysis of variance, and Pearson r were used for inferential statistics set at 0.05 alpha. Results showed the teachers’ level of teaching effectiveness was “highly effective.” Te overall attitude of students towards entrepreneurship was “good” while their academic achievement on the subject was also good (85.65). No signifcant differences existed on teachers’ level of teaching effectiveness based on their age, the length of teaching experience, training, membership in business organizations and teaching performance. Moreover, these variables did not significantly influence teaching effectiveness and students’ attitude toward entrepreneurship and students’ academic achievement.
