Perception of politics and deviant workplace behavior, moderating impact of organizational cynicism in public sector of Pakistan

Abstract:

Perception of politics is a vital determinant of undesirable workplace behaviors including deviant workplace behavior. If the personality of the individual is supported by cynicism, then the relationship gets more strengthened. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship of perception of politics and deviant workplace behavior with a moderating impact of organizational cynicism. Data were collected from 150 employees working in various organizations of public sector organizations of Pakistan through a questionnaire. Correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results suggest that there is a relatively less significant relationship between perception of politics and deviant workplace behavior. Also, there is a negative moderating role of organizational cynicism on the relationship of perception of politics and deviant workplace behavior. There is a negative association between the Cynicism and Perception of Politics with deviant workplace behavior. Te higher the cynicism, the lower are PoP and DWB.
