Abstract:

A strong teacher evaluation system determines the credibility of the effectiveness of teachers and the quality of their teaching. The ultimate aim of teacher evaluation is to improve the practice of a teacher throughout his/her teaching career. This study looked into the attitude of the faculty members towards the contents of the tool used by the students and their supervisors to evaluate them. A descriptive survey was utilized to generate the needed data from 193 full-time faculty members. Their level of agreement on the indicators was used as the measure for their attitude towards the evaluation tool. The faculty members agreed very much with the contents of the areas on evaluation and classroom management in the students’ tool, while they agreed very much with the contents of the professional conduct and deportment, classroom management, and use of instructional materials in the supervisors’ tool. Thus, it is concluded that the faculty members have a favorable attitude towards being evaluated in the areas they very much agree with. However, the findings suggest the need to consider the capability of the evaluators in using the tool when determining the specific indicators to include in the different areas. It is recommended that the tool should be revised and the revised copy should be subjected for validation and reliability testing before adoption
