DAVAO DOCTORS COLLEGE TRACER STUDY OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING

Abstract:

Tracer study is an endeavor to survey the performance of graduates in the job market upon completion of study in the institution. The study aimed to obtain data on the status of the graduates in terms of employability, job status, type of employment, monthly income and employer’s information. It aimed to gather information on the graduates’ perspective on the academic program, facilities and the impact of teaching and learning process experienced in the institution. It utilized a total of 370 of the 4,198 BSN graduates of Batch 2003 to Batch 2009 as respondents. Descriptive method was used in the study. In terms of the educational profile, results showed that most of them are registered nurses, most of whom had not taken any other examinations. Further, most of them had attended only local trainings and seminars. For the employment profile, the results revealed that most of the respondents were employed with regular status and occupying staff nurse position. After graduation, most of the respondents worked in a nursing-related job. As to the graduates’ perspective on the academic program, facilities and the impact of teaching and learning process experienced in the institution, most of them cited skills in communication, human relation, critical thinking and problem-solving as the ones they developed which also helped them procure the job.
