Abstract:

This study aimed to explore the possibility of decreasing the temperature inside a residential building by utilizing sawdust, rice hull, and banana pasteas additives to cement paste capable of insulating heat outside. Specifically, this study sought to determine the significant difference between a plaster without additives and a plaster with additives. Experimental Design method was implemented involving two miniatures with a 1m x 1m x 1.8m in dimension. One has the plaster with additive, and the other one has a plaster without additives. Testing for temperature readings were recorded at the end of every 30-minute interval from 11-1:00pm for 5 days. The Findings of this study indicated the abovementioned additives were suitable to insulate temperature outside the building. It is also recommended for construction especially in residential buildings that are made of concrete. The strength of the plaster was not tested since the study only focused on the thermal insulation properties of the additives.
