Improving Reflective Writing Skills through the A.R.I.S.E. Teaching Model

Pedro L. Sutacio Jr.

Abstract:

Nowadays, Philippine schools are asked to develop their students’ reflective thinking skills. Reflection is supposed to provide students with occasions to think deeply, such as of personal experience and observation (King, 2002). To provide students these occasions, teachers would require them to write reading reflections. Such activity encourage them to explore their own ideas about a text and to express their opinion, not just to summarize other people’s opinions.
