Open-Laboratory Monitoring System of the Information Technology Education Program

Abstract:

The open-laboratory of the Information Technology Education Program was established to improve the quality of education delivery to its students as recommended by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). This facility is used by students in daily basis and so monitoring of usage and generation of summary reports of the said laboratory is a great challenge to the in-charge due to the bulk of raw data. This paper proposed a new system that automates monitoring of usage with summary report generation. The components of the system include user registration, automatic usage reporting and administrator panel. Rapid Application Development was applied to fully develop the system with iterations. Unit testing results with the respondents show that the proposed system has successfully delivered the necessary modules needed to monitor the usage of the open-laboratory.
