Abstract:

In 2011, the Arab region witnessed one of the most influential popular revolutions that shaped multiplicity of levels up including geographical, ideological, social, education and many more. With this interesting event, the researchers thought of looking into the influence of Arab spring and the democratic movement to education. In determining this assumption, the researchers applied content analyses of history textbooks used by secondary students in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. Results showed education in the Arab countries was used as a tool for political purposes. Notably, Egyptian, Libyan and Tunisian education curriculum underwent significant changes; however, efforts failed to promote democracy. Thorough discussions of the results were provided.
