Abstract:

The study aimed to develop an intelligent tutoring system based on the course syllabus of Digital Electronics, one of the subjects in Computer Science course. The proposed system was named Digital Electronics Intelligent Tutoring System. It is a self-learning computer-based instruction designed to motivate mastery of the key concepts and principles of the subject, Digital Electronics. Deterministic Finite Automaton (DFA) was devised and applied in developing the framework of the modules. The combination of random and linear search algorithms was also used for the construction of the interactive questions.

Descriptive research was used in the study to explain how the system functioned and worked based on the evaluation done to the responses of the 100 ICST students. The results of the analysis showed that the proposed study satisfactorily reached the set criteria for a new system’s acceptance. This means the DEITS is effective in motivating the respondents to self-study.
